Concert with Ex Cathedra a great success

Paul was asked to stand in for the indisposed founder/conductor of Ex Cathedra Jeffrey Skidmore at very short notice last Sunday.

'I was Glad' was the title of a huge programme of great choral music performed by Ex Cathedra with organists Henry Fairs and Nicholas Wearne in Birmingham Town Hall last Sunday (7th February). The programme included Janacek's Otcenas, Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb, Walton's The Twelve, Leighton's Crucifixus pro nobis, and shorter works by Sally Beamish, James MacMillan and Hubert Parry.

Jeffrey Skidmore was struck down with the flu and was unable to conduct. This was the first concert he had not conducted in his 45 years with the group. Reviews were excited by Paul's direction of the group and his quick assimilation of repertoire some of which was completely unknown to him two days ealier.
