Paul's edition of the 2nd Violin Sonata by Herbert Howells has just been published by Novello.
One of Howells' most considerable chamber music works, the 2nd Violin Sonata has just been published in Paul's edition. The work has never been published before as Howells 'stole' the Scherzo movement from it for his 3rd Sonata. Paul has now reinstated that movement and the work can be played with or without it. In the first recording of the work by Paul Barritt and Catherine Edwards the work was played without the Scherzo. Rupert Marshall-Luck will record the work in its 'new' version later this year along with the early B minor Minor violin Sonata which Paul is also editing (for Boosey and Hawkes).
