Paul is a highly experienced and sensitive recording producer. Over some twenty-five years he has been producing recordings for BBC Radio 3 and for commercial recording companies.

His longest partnership on disc is with the concert organist Christopher Herrick with whom he has made forty recordings up to 2009 including the complete organ works of J S Bach on new Metzler organs in Switzerland. Herrick's Organ Fireworks series has seen them travel the world together, and the sixth volume from Wellington, New Zealand included Paul Spicer's specially written Kiwi Fireworks; Five Variations on the New Zealand National Anthem. Herrick's Organ Dreams series included Paul Spicer's Dreams of Derry on the first recording of the series from the Temple Church, London. His newest Organ Fireworks CD includes Paul's Fanfares and Dances from Melbourne Town Hall in Australia.

He has worked with many distinguished artists including making many recordings for Hyperion with pianist Stephen Coombs, a wide range of repertoire for Chandos with the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Ensemble, several chamber music discs with the Lindsays for ASV, and recordings with the London Mozart Players, Nicholas Daniel (oboe) and Julius Drake (piano), the Albion Wind Ensemble, organist Thomas Trotter, Artur Pizarro, pianist Margaret Fingerhut, the choir of New College, Oxford, tenor John Mark Ainsley, violinist Lydia Mordkovich, baritone Stephen Varcoe and bass Michael George, The King's Consort and the Guildhall Strings, and many, many more.
